2013 National TRANSCAER® Award Recipients Recognized for Improving Safety of Transporting Hazardous Materials
Tanner Industries, Inc, headquartered in Southampton, PA, was named a recipient of the 2013 National TRANSCAER® Awards. Tanner is a full service specialty chemical company involved with the distribution of anhydrous ammonia and ammonium hydroxide as well as related products and services, including storage tanks/systems, consulting, and emergency response training. This is the second straight year that Tanner has received this award.
TRANSCAER® (Transportation Community Awareness and Emergency Response), a voluntary national outreach effort that focuses on assisting communities to prepare for and respond to a possible hazardous materials transportation incident, today announced the recipients of its 2013 National Awards Recognition Program.
The TRANSCAER® Awards Program recognizes the achievements of individuals, companies and organizations that exceed in advocating, demonstrating and implementing at the national and regional levels the principles of TRANSCAER®, including transportation safety, community assistance and emergency response planning and aid.
"Heartfelt appreciation goes out to all the on-the-ground trainers and their supporting organizations that have aided in better preparing communities and our Nation’s emergency responders for possible hazardous materials events," said National TRANSCAER® Task Group Chair Ed Chapman, of BNSF Railway. "For their collaborative planning and training efforts during 2013, the TRANSCAER® National Achievement Awards offer a modest, albeit coveted, form of recognition to the activities of all of these outstanding volunteers."
Members of the National TRANSCAER® Task Group Executive Committee also presented 121 Individual Achievement and Certificate of Appreciation Awards to those individuals nationwide who worked to advance the principles of TRANSCAER®. David Binder, Director of Quality, Safety and Regulatory Affairs for Tanner Industries, Inc, received an Individual Achievement award.
The National awards will be presented to recipients during multiple upcoming industry conferences this spring, including the American Chemistry Council’s annual Responsible Care® Conference and Expo in Miami and the Association of American Railroads/Bureau of Explosive’s annual Bureau of Explosives Hazmat Seminar in Addison, TX.
